Finding items for letter D show and tell proved to be more challenging than we had initially had expected! During our morning meeting, we look around the room with our “detective eyes” and try to find things in our classroom that start with our weekly letter. Believe it or not, there aren’t many items in our room that started with the letter D! We were able to spot a dollhouse, a daddy (one of the people that live in the dollhouse), a diamond on our shape wall, and our friend, Daniel. But that was about all we could come up with! I knew I could count on our creative Butterfly parents to come through with a dragon, a dictionary, a dream light, and (my personal favorite) a digger. We also had quite a few dogs, a duck, a couple of dinosaurs, a few diapers, and two drills. But the biggest hit of our show and tell was definitely the delightfully delicious Krispy Kreme doughnuts we snacked on! I LOVE any excuse to eat doughnuts, so I may be bringing those in again for letter K show and tell. After we listed all of our show and tell items on our dry erase board, we took turns identifying and circling the letter D within those words, and used tally marks to count how many friends had brought in each item. During art, we decorated the letter D with dots for our alphabet book. We topped off our letter D lesson by dancing until we were dizzy! We had lots of fun learning about letter D this week, and I hope you enjoy these pictures of our alphabet adventures!
